Kent F.C. wins Charity Cup

Yesterday’s football tournament at the University of Kent saw four teams competing against each other for the coveted Mike Wilkins Charity cup. Sports Development Elect won the 3rd/4th place play-off against the Sports Centre Staff. The final ended with Kent F.C. finally beating the Sports Sabbatical Elect during the penalty shootouts. Mike Wilkins himself handed the silver cup to the happy winners.

David’s Birthday

David Lang became 19 yesterday! Hooray! In order to celebrate we went to town and played Pub Golf. Ed and me came first with ten sips for nine holes.

Keynestock

Kent Union’s annual Keynestock offers student bands from the University of Kent the possibility to display their talent. Hosted by the Keynes JCC and broadcasted live on Canterbury Student Radio, this year’s edition was the first one ever to completely sell out.
More photographs will be published in the next edition of inQuire, out on Tuesday, May 22nd. Click here to see the album.

Shooting with Kate

Candy Lips
I did a short shooting with Kate from the Student Bar for the DPChallenge contest Selective Desaturation. I got the sugar strands from Tesco and some lipgloss from Boots - I had to ask for assistance though, as I would almost have bought nail polish by mistake. As the gloss was quite sticky it was not a problem to get the strands to stick to Kate’s lips. Putting them on was a bit messy, but I don’t think Kate was that annoyed that she had to eat some of them :)
Above is one picture from the series, the one I submitted to the challenge. I used natural light from a window and cardboard covered with kitchen foil as a reflector from below. In retrospect setting the aperture to F/1,8 at 50mm might have been a bit too shallow at this short distance, especially when it is crucial to have both the lips and the eyes in focus, which rather limits the vertical angles from which one can shoot.

Rugby

Yesterday a mixed tag rugby tournament was held on the University of Kent Park Wood pitches. I didn’t stay to cover the finals in the evening, but here are some pictures from the afternoon.Mixed Tag Rugby

When things get out of hand

I just finished a 4700 word essay plan for a 4000 word essay. Hm… I’m glad when this term is over.

Necrophilia

I am taken aback time and again by the cultural differences between Luxembourg and the UK.

Benoit, Olivier, Yorick and me went to Veckring and gave their paintball arena a try. Here are some pictures I took with my new 40€ digital camera:
